The AMVETS Department of Michigan 73rdd Annual Convention will be held June 22ndh thru June 25th, 2017 at the Causeway Bay Lansing located at 6820 S. Cedar Street. Room rates are 91.00 not including tax for all standard rooms. For reservations, call 517-694-8123. You must specify if you are with the AMVETS, Auxiliary or Sons when making reservations rooms for that weekend or you will be told that there are no rooms available. Please keep in mind that reservations are confirmed for rooms only. The hotel is not accepting personal checks so make sure that payment is by debit or credit card. Circumstances may on occasion prevent the hotel from fulfilling your request, such as King Bedroom’s. By law they are responsible only to provide a room, although they will make every effort to fulfill your request.

The AMVETS Michigan State Service Foundation will meet at the Causeway Bay on Saturday June 24th at 10:00 AM. The AMVET registration desk will open on Friday, June 24th at 3:00 P.M. Registration fees for delegates and alternates are $25.00. Banquet Tickets are $35.00.

The authorized delegate count will be sent to posts between the 4th and 8th of June. Remember, that count does not include Past Department Commanders or current elected State Officers (including District Commanders). Those persons are in addition to the authorized delegate strength.

The Opening Session of the 73rdAnnual State Convention will be, Saturday, June 24th at 9:00 AM. The uniform for the Convention; all state Officers will wear Class A’s all other members will be casual dress with their post hats. It will be a Joint Session with the Ladies Auxiliary, Sons of AMVETS and AMVET Riders. The Joint Memorial Service will be held on Friday, June 23rd at 6:00 PM. A detailed Itinerary will follow. The Commander’s and President’s Banquet will be on Saturday, June 24th starting with cocktails at 5:30 PM.

Nominations of AMVET Officers, the State Service Foundation and other personnel for 2016-2017 will open on Saturday, June 24th. Final nominations and elections will be held on Sunday, June 25th. Any individual running for any position must bring a copy of their DD Form 214 and have it presented to the ED or Convention Committee for verification before opening ceremony on Saturday.

The Joint Installation of Officers will be held immediately following the adjournment of the AMVETS convention. The AMVET Riders, Sons of AMVETS, Ladies Auxiliary, and AMVETS will be installed in that order. The AMVETS Post Convention State Executive Committee meeting will be immediately following the Installation of Officers. Incoming and outgoing members of the SEC are requested to attend. The Post Convention SEC meeting will be followed by the State Service Foundation reorganization meeting also. The Commanders’ & President’s reception will be immediately following the close of convention. Meeting rooms will be announced at the convention at the front desk itinerary when you check in.
